watercolor practice

These watercolor pictures are created in-house from photos, magazine or downloaded from the internet.  It was to help develop my watercolor techniques.

I like the shadow cast on ground and the combination of green and pink.

Forest with path, I tried different greens in this picture - the foreground with darker greens and further away with lighter to provide the feeling of depth.

It is an attempt of a distant mountain scene and needle leaved pine trees in the foreground. I feel satisfied with the effect of the mountain side.

Chinese Landscape

China is very large country, it is well worth travelling throughout the country to see for yourself.

To continue my painting practice and development, I have drawn them using photo's as a reference

Longevity Hill in the Summer Palace. Beijing.

Typical old town - east China with a river flowing through and traditional folk house besides

Bird's eye view of the old town in China

LuJiaZui in Pudong Area (east to the Huangpu River), Shanghai. It is the one of most famous views of Shanghai. The original photo was taken from the west of Huangpu River. Thousand of visitors take in this landscape from both sides of Huangpu River everyday.

EUROPA Cityscape practice - come from photo

This is one of my favorite topics to draw even though I have never traveled to Europa yet.

Here are various European subjects - from castles, street views, historical Greek sites, to Venician landscapes.

I plan one day to go to these places myself and draw on-site.

Colorpencil Practice

In order to practice with colored pencils and have some fun, I've taken three scenes.

Angkor Wat Architecture

This is one of my favorite topics. In 2013 I traveled to Siem Reap to view the famous Angkor Wat World Heritage Park. Unfortunately my travel schedule was so hectic I had no time to sketch on site. The view of Angkor impressed me greatly.  I selected some typical scenes like large trees, temples, ruins and the figure of Buddha to sketch later.
